October in Motion: Partner Events Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Across Georgia

October gives our communities an important opportunity to move with purpose. Across Georgia, people will gather for races, walks, and service activities that create connection, encourage wellness, and bring greater attention to the realities of breast cancer.

At I Will Survive, Inc. (IWS), we believe no one should face breast cancer alone. Our mission is to empower people at higher risk for or affected by breast cancer through financial assistance, prevention education, and wellness programs.

This October, we’re highlighting four community events that invite us to show up in different ways. You can run, walk, volunteer, bring your family, support a friend, or simply share information with someone who may need it.

Why Community Events Matter

Breast cancer awareness becomes more meaningful when it connects people to action. Events like these can help us:

  • Encourage conversations about breast health and early detection.
  • Connect families with community resources.
  • Create visible support for survivors and those currently facing breast cancer.
  • Promote movement and wellness in welcoming environments.
  • Give volunteers and donors a way to make a difference.
  • Help reduce isolation by reminding families that they’re part of a caring community.

Every person’s involvement matters. One registration can start a conversation. One volunteer shift can make an event more accessible. One social media post can help a family find support.

Our programs support individuals and families through financial assistance, wellness education, and other resources.

Perhaps you’ve been personally affected by breast cancer. Perhaps you’re supporting a loved one, honoring someone you lost, or looking for a meaningful way to give back. Sista Strut offers a welcoming way to stand with the breast cancer community.

Service is an important part of community health. It allows people to contribute time and energy to projects that strengthen neighborhoods and support local organizations.

You don’t have to be a runner to take part in a service day. Volunteers can help create a welcoming experience, support event activities, and work alongside others who care about community impact.

For families affected by breast cancer, strong communities can make a real difference. Practical support, reliable information, and compassionate connections can help people feel less alone during difficult seasons.

If you’re interested in wellness and movement, IWS also offers information about exercise during and after cancer. Always consider your personal health needs and follow guidance from your medical care team before beginning or changing physical activity.
